VAREY began as a small, family-rooted architectural practice in London, England in 2018 and is now based in Toronto. As the practice has evolved across the UK and Canada, the approach has remained consistent — a considered act of making, guided by a clear sense of purpose and a material honesty that values warmth, texture, and the contemporary refinement of traditional forms.
Led by OAA (CA) / ARB (UK) Architect and Founder Nick Varey, we make architecture that responds to how people live. A home should support daily routines, create moments of calm, and offer a sense of comfort. Great architecture grows from the harmony between purpose and place — understanding the demands of a space, and bringing them together with a crafted precision that brings a sense of ease, pleasure, and enjoyment.
Our focus is on creating thoughtfully considered experiences within the spaces our clients inhabit. This means paying close attention to material, proportion, and detail, as well as the subtler qualities that shape how a space is experienced — how a room feels to step into, how light moves through it, and how the architecture holds the life unfolding within.
Every project is a collaboration. We work closely with clients to understand what matters to them, helping them see the true potential in their home — forming spaces that feel considered, comfortable, and lasting.
