Courtyard House

Wandsworth, London, UK

Courtyard House is a four-bedroom new-build home in south-west London, constructed on a former rear garden and parking site. The project explores light, volume, and material, transforming a compact plot into a private family home.

From the outset, the project recognised the potential of an overlooked piece of land, requiring vision, considered design, and careful navigation of planning to realise a new home in its place. The final arrangement places the main living spaces at lower ground level, opening directly onto a sheltered courtyard. Bedrooms are set across the upper floors, balancing privacy with generous daylight throughout.

An open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space form the centre of the home, connecting directly to the courtyard through large sliding doors. A timber-clad façade brings warmth and texture to the building, designed to weather naturally and sit comfortably within its setting.
