Moraine House
Marylebone, London, UK
Moraine House is the full refurbishment of a flat within a historic London mansion block, conceived as a quiet city retreat. The design is deliberately simple and restrained, allowing the architecture to act as a calm backdrop for the client’s extensive art collection.
Bespoke joinery is woven throughout, from stepped oak door frames and bed surrounds to purpose-designed framing for artwork, giving the spaces a quiet sense of order and care. During construction, a long-hidden window was discovered and carefully reinstated, adding to the generous quality of light through the interior.
The kitchen is treated as part of the living area rather than a separate room — subtle in its presence and precisely tailored to the clients’ needs. Designed for those who cook infrequently, it maximises the limited footprint while maintaining the calm character of the home.
